Trying to find a a happy medium can be difficult, but the following needs to be taken into consideration such as;
Children- impact on the sex life, especially if young.
Poor health- can impact on a normally healthy sex life.
Work commitments & stress- can cause lack of interest in sex.
Sadly age also impacts on the need for sex, especially for woman in there 40's, due to sagging/fluctuating hormones.
Once a week is not unreasonable, but you may have to work with your wife to set the mood.
Hire a baby sitter if you have young children, for teens tell them the house is out of bounds for the night.
Take your wife out for dinner, or you cook a nice meal, and woo her, by making her feel special, so talk and touch her through out the evening, offer a foot massage.
Make sure your wife knows your intentions so your not at cross purposes, which may lead to disapointment.
Properly the most important thing is to talk to your wife about your needs and her needs.

The wife should be able to "gear up for it" once a week, even if she really feels like it only once a month. The husband should be willing to settle for once a week, even though he's into it daily. Both parties should think of little things to make the weekly experience as romantic and pleasurable as possible. Once the frequency is agreed on (say, once a week), then the husband shouldn't bug her for more, and she should be a willing partner on the scheduled day. This is called compromise and it is what keeps a marraige from becoming a divorce.

I would try to find out why she only wants it once per month. you sir are a normal male who wants it all the time and she is doesn't. Is it that there are other obligations? the sex isn't worth the time? Children interfering? low sex drive? what ever the reason is try to fix it. and she will want it more but I'd say once a week to week and a half should be good compromise although thats not something that really should have to come down to a compromise. Also try to spend a few extra minutes pleasing her and maybe she will be the one begging you for more later.

My husband use to want it everyday or every other day and i was okay with 2 times a week so we compromised we never wait longer than 2-3 days and then on Satuday and Sunday we go at it in the morning and evening. Plus we do a date night, doesnt always lead to sex but it gets him brownie points for when im not really wanting to i think of all the sweet things he does and i give him "special kisses" or we do it

Sounds typical for people that have been together for a long time. If ther husband isn't romantic or very attentive, he is lucky to get it once a month.
I am not sure that this will help, but a woman reaches her sexual peak generally around 35 and it ends around 45.

As much as you can get it....you shouldn't have to limited yourself to a certain number of times a week. Where is the fun in that? My husband and I usually do it everyday...if not then every other day. If you have to plan sex its not a very healthy relationship.

There is no time and no numbers that go with it. If you love each other you do it when it comes to you, anytime of the day or night, or morning . There is no time limit on love making.
