When i have a bad dream and cant go right back to sleep I usually write down my dream so I can break it down. When I break down all the elements, I then see that it was nothing to be considered bad. It helps me get over it.

I then read until I am ready to go back to sleep and I have no issues.

I can't lay in bed. If I do..... my mind goes in a million directions and I almost talk myself into believing the dream is real. I have to get up and check everything just to make sure it wasn't a "sign" and not just a dream. Once I realize it was a dream....... and all was in my imagination I have to busy my mind so that it doesn't go back there. Sure.... coming on here late at night or early early in the morning works. Or I read and let my mind go anywhere but "there." I watch tv...... anything to keep my mind from thinking about the things that will only haunt me. Busy your mind..... don't let it stop and wander. That's when it hurts.

I actually enjoy nightmares, I sleep only for to see them.
You can so overcome your fears. They are just dreams.
Btw if you want to escape a nightmare, when your dreaming, say to yourself: "This is only a dream." and that dream will end in 10 sec, this works.

But you, don't think about nighmare after woke up, do some excercise if too much energy or watch boring shows on TV.

Well what I would do is pretty childish but works.
Ok, well I would lay back and think of something you like and try to day dream all about it.
And that may take your bad dream thoughts away.

well, you're not alone!that has happened to me countless times!just to tell you, i dreamnt i was in a nice lift, and the rope attaching to the lift broke, and i dropped down...it was so real!i suggest you think of what you will do the day when you wake up, start planning(it really helps when you wake up),then think of the good things(e.g.your favorite things, your loved ones(*smooch*) and well be positive and tell yourself it's all a dream.NEVER wake up to eat,you will have TERRIBLE dreams if you eat then sleep.well, don't go to bed angry!:)

I do something happy -- like listen to music or turn on the tv (even stupid infomercials, because at least those people are ridiculously enthusiastic!).

Curl up next to my Gingerbread teddy, and suck on my pacifier until I go back to sleep.
