I assume you know addition, the rules of addition and accept them to be true.
a=6 b=-3
(a-b) = 9
<(a-b) = (a + (-b) ). Here b= -3 so -b = 3>
So 2(a-b) = 18

All you have to do with this kind of problem is fill in the number they give you for a and b into the equation, that is 2(a-b).

To solve the problem, you just have to write it out like this:

2(6--3)

solve what is in the parenthesis first:

(6--3) = (6+3), because -+- = +

2(9)

18

The answer is 18.

Method 1
2(6 - 3)
= 2 x 3
= 6

Method 2
2.(a - b)
= 2a - 2b
= 2 x 6 - 2 x 3
= 12 - 6
= 6

2(a-b) First you substitute the variables.

2(6-(-3)) Two negetives( a minus sign and negetive) equal
a positive. So 6 +3 equals 9

2(9) Since 6+3= 9. You do 2 times 9.

18 ............................. 2 times 9 = 18

(a-b) ---> [ 6 - ( -3) ]

(negative x negative is positive)

therefore (6 + 3) which is 9

which in turn becomes 2 ( 9 )
