Definitely the punishment for such offence is applicable to even Advocates; after all they are also bound by the law of the country & are not above it. Rather I'll say Advocates are more responsible for any offence they commit as with fully aware of the legal Jurisprudence they should be more cautious while committing any act that may amounts to an offence. Section 465 of the Indian Penal Code provides whoever commits forgery shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both. Hence a criminal complaint under this section can be filled against the Advocate who has committed forgery with his client. The client should also file formal complaint with the Bar council of India for cancellation of the license of such an Advocate so he can be debarred from practicing as an Advocate.

File a complaint for malpractice under the Advocates Act, to the Bar Council. Separately file a criminal complaint for forgery, either at the police station or at the local magistrates court. Write to the newspapers and publicise the name of this scoundrel so that others may not get cheated.
