Im 18 and have been on the Depo Provera shot since I was 15. I started smoking lately (within the past year) and I was wondering if if smoking cigarettes change the effectiveness of the shot.

It doesn't affect the effectiveness of it but smoking while taking control is very dangerous. With BC you have the chance of blood clots and heart problems but smoking rases that risk a lot more.

I really don't know for certain, all I know is that when my wife was taking those shots her doctor told her she needed to quit smoking. She said something about heart attack risk's or something like that. Anyone she quit smoking, not a bad idea anyway. What do you get out of smoking anyway?
