as always, most people [not all] have entirely missed the punk subgenre.
anti-flag is NOT anarcho-punk; they're mainstream crap.
here's a rule of thumb for all: if it's on the radio, MTV/VH1/Fuse/whatever television station you know that plays music videos, it's NOT punk (or metal or goth or whatever subgenre that's being discussed).
with all that said, some true punk bands I recommend:
a//political, conflict, nausea, aus-rotten, whorehouse or representatives, the business, anti-product, resist and exist, flux of pink indians, crass, the 4-skins, behind enemy lines, subhumans, rudimentary peni, [older] agnostic front, poison girls, sham 69!, subhumans, extreme noise terror, the virus, oi polloi, against all authority, the devotchkas, the adicts, uk subs, caustic christ, DIRT, doom, antischism, detestation, propagandhi, the sarcastics, riot/clone, zegota, dead kennedys, x, potential threat, infa red, antisect, iconoclast, resistant culture, hudson falcons, angelic upstarts, a global threat, armistice, harum-scarum, brother inferior, capitalist casualties, children of reagan, civil disobedience, cockney rejects, discharge, destroy!, extinction of mankind, deathmold, dropdead, flat earth society, harum-scarum, los muertos de cristo, stranglehold, thulsa doom, and toxic narcotic.
