3) TRUE. Anti-slavery and abolition are entirely different concepts. The abolitionist movement worked for the abolition of slavery, whereas the anti-slavery movement opposed the westward spread of slavery, which became of utmost importance as the United States began to acquire more territory. The Republican Party realized that if slavery spread into the west, slave interests--sometimes referred to as the "Slave Power"--would take over the House and Senate.

All Three are FALSE.

Especially the last one - - - the Republicans never unserted a 'plank' calling for an end to slavery and at most Lincoln was planning on openning the issue to debate.
