....... *thinks* well, if you like the name franklin, go for it!
Whats popluar as for baby names changes every year..... what if you asked on y/a and everyone said to name your son ..... idk...... featherduster ......... do you really want your kid to grow up with a name like that? and do you want to have to explain to him when he's old enough that you gave him whatever name was the most popular on y/a?
lol...... youre best bet is to pick out the names you like, the reasons why you like them.... and then, when you see his little face for the first time, you'll know that you know whether or not he's a 'franklin'.... good luck to you.

I dont mind Franklin at all, sort of masculine and regal all at once.

But thinking of nicknames..... how do you feel about him being called Frankie? or Frank? or even Franny?

As long as you are happy with the possible nicknames as well then I say go for it. However, another historic name to consider...... how about Edison?

Of course there is always the nicknames Eddy or Ed to contend with, but its another masculine and regal historic name to consider.

The name Franklin reminds me of that cartoon turtle that little kids love so much.

I would probably use it as a middle name, but because of the turtle not as a first name. It's cute, but I wouldn't name my baby Tinky-Winky either.

I'm sorry but to be honest it just reminds of Benjamin Franklin. I don't think he will appreciate it growing up. Maybe when he is grown it will be alright. This coming from someone who has to go by my middle name.
