Besides protecting us from the rain and sun, what else can we do with it? Are there any websites that can come up with any creative ideas on how to use something differently?

Well I've come up with something, but I don't think it's enough. If you have any ideas, please just let me know.

Here's what I've come up with;

Clean a chandelier/ceiling fan - open the umbrella and hook its handle in the fixture so that it hangs upside down to catch any drips or dust.

Cover food: cut off old umbrella's handle, place it over the dishes to keep flies from feasting on the food.

Signal in a crowd: use a bright colored umbrella, when u go shopping with your friends, and lost them, just hold the umbrella over your head, so that they will see you.

As an instant trellis: remove the fabric, insert the handle into the ground to support climbing vines, the umbrella frames will soon be covered with flowers, it looks great.

well, this is all I have. I need more. It can be practical or humorous or both. thanks!

It was a means of transportation in the Mary Poppins movie, and if you ever watched the Avengers, John Steed used it as a weapon. And then, you jump out of an airplane carrying one, it might slow you down a bit. Finally, I seem to remember that maybe the Penguin used to do something with an umbrella in the Batman comics, but I don't remember what.

Catching throws at Mardi Gras parades. Use the handle to catch turkeys. A cane. Beating muggers.Upside down in the water makes a fair child's boat to play with.

I've heard a few stories about people doing very odd things with umbrellas, but they are definitely not suitable to post here....

That's a horrible thought. I'm going to go vomit now.

Use it as a basket to collect fruits.
Use it to transport water.
Use the handle to pluck fruits from a tree.
Use it as a walking stick.
Use it to play croquet.
Use it to switch channels when the remote is busted.
Use it as a 'sailboat'.
Use it to handle snakes.
Use it as a pretend shield.

dont know of a website that deals with uses of umbrella, you can simply do a yahoo search
for me, it can be used as a weapon, for those who have walking difficulties it can help, we can hide our face on it if we want to and we can use it to carry things in case of emergency

They are used for decoration. My neighbors little girl was using one as a boat when our street flooded. :) I don't think they would be practical for anything else since that is what they are designed for.
