In no particular order of importance, per se... How about my most "slept on" list.

1- Easy Mo Bee http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_Mo_Bee
Mo Bee has tight "musical" grooves that lend themselves to full lyrical content. Like everyone else on my list he is making MUSIC, not just a bunch of loud, repititive keyboard noises, hollering and screaming(not that anyone on your list does that). His music minus lyrics can stand on its on merits.

2 DJ Premier- The NICEST dude to ever touch a MPC, PERIOD! He has honed his style and even though you can tell when he has done a particular song it is quite Fresh! His razor sharp scratches are epic and create the perfect hip hop crescendo on the break! To hell with Parkay... THAT'S Pure Butter!

3 Studio Tone- Apparently more of a musician than anything else. He worked closely with E-40 on his earliest (and best albums in my opinion). Tone is really doing R&B on these albums. It's a damned shame he isn't in demand in R&B circles (from what I can tell). 40's comical yet menacing metaphoric, allusions over the ghetto fabulous tailor made 3-D Funk that Tone puts together are the reason 40 is one of the most loved and hated rappers to get respect all over the country. Ride Yayy Area RIDE!

4 -DJ Scratch- Forget producing... He's one of the SICCEST turntablist in the game! There is no technique on the turntables Scratch seems unable to fade. His early work with EPMD helped shape the game and lay fundamentals that are still important to this day when we discuss "HIP HOP" not C(RAP).

I'm glad his turntable and production skills are so tight as this should be the benchmark by which all "HIP HOP" producers are truly gauged.

5-The X-ecutionors DAMN! That is the ILLEST SHAWZNIT I ever heard in my life! How are you gonna get on the set with all those turntables and make it happen like that the same every time you BRING IT!?!?!? They make MY LIST strictly on that and the Production Dead Prez "Sucka Thank He Can Wuup Me?!?!?" Damn, they don't make like that very often these days. Like LL would say "A Jam that you love that don't be gettin' no air-play".

Good question!
