Why are there never any MODERn world war one movies? Like I heard that Mr Spielberg is making another WW2 flick. What is wrong with WWOne? I'm sure there are some but never UPCOMING ones. It'd be awesome though to get something else!

A few points to ponder in response:

1. World War One has lost its impact, since almost no survivors of that conflict are still alive to tell the tale. World War Two and 'Nam are still real to veteran combatants, and there are inherent dramas and conflicts in both wars, pro and con, to cover a multitude of other films.
2. World War One had few real heroes or varietal landscapes audiences can relate to: WWI was primarily fought in the hellhole trenches all across Europe, and in similar circumstances spanning a good part of the globe. Mud, blood, death and waste were daily life. Hardly the stuff of entertainment. The air war in World War One was about the only bright spot in the conflict, and its effect on the war itself was small.
3. Excellent and classic films have been made about World War One: The Big Parade, All Quiet on the Western Front, King and Country, Gallipoli, Paths of Glory, Wings, The Dawn Patrol, Grand Illusion; yet for the most part, these films argue the senselessness of the war and the reasons for which it was fought. Can our modern film-makers even find a different viewpoint on such a conflict? And if they do, what studio will back the production?

The adventures of the Lafayette Escadrille, young Americans who volunteered for the French military before the U.S. entered World War I, and became the country's first fighter pilots.

But you are right, there are so many more movies about WW2 and Vietnam than WW1.

Australia has produced two dynamic WW I films. GALLIPOLI stars Mel Gibson. THE LIGHTHORSEMEN stars Jon Blake and Anthony Andrews. Just viewed another outstanding film about the early days of trench warfare called MERRY CHRISTMAS.
