You have to be 18 years and older with a Drivers License and Social Security to get a cell phone with a contract. All cell phone companies require a credit check of the person before activation of any cell phone service. If you have a low credit score then the cell phone company will require you to put down a deposit depending on your credit rating in addition to any fees like purchasing a new phone and taxes.

In most states, 18 is the required age, and you'll need valid photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, possibly a Passport). Alabama in particular requires the age of 19, and Puerto Rico requires 21 (though it's not actually a state). Those are the only exceptions that I know of.

18! You have to be 18 to sign a contract for anything, just like a credit card.

u must be at least 18 with a valid DL. all companies will run a check or any one applying for a 1or 2yr contract
