Hello I have been having problems with my fuel system. The check engine light pops on all the time and I ignored it for a month or so. I had trouble starting my car for a few days so I changed the fuel filter... that didn't work. I put injector cleaner in with the fuel and I thought that it was cleared up. The other day it wouldn't start again. Now today my engine light came on when I was at a stop light and the rpm's dropped low and the car stalled out and wouldn't start. I gave it a try every 10 minutes for an hour and finally it started. I drove it home and parked it. I'm getting a code 43 (fuel system). What do you think it is? fuel pump?

the problem is caused by the Oxygen Sensor despite the misleading terminology for the code. The oxygen sensor is reading a continually lean mixture which is usually caused by a bad sensor element that has gotten too carboned up and can't fully react to the exhaust gases. The other cause would be a weak fuel pump that puts out too low a fuel pressure and thereby not allow enough fuel into the engine when the fuel injectors are opened by the PCM. If there is a problem with the fuel pump you would have a bad hesitation and a general lack of power. If you don't have any driveability problems, its an oxygen sensor that has a signal that is out of range for too long. Replace the O2 sensor and you sould be good to go.
hope that helps

Code 43= Left (front) fuel supply system circuit fault (except D15Z1 engine) not sure, could be a bad relay or bad ground for fuel pump, bad fuel pressure regulator.Check all vacuum hoses for air tight fit.Check fuel pressure on fuel rail you may have a bad pump.
