I went to the clinic for my yearly and she used some thing that looked like a pipe cleaner I bled, Than she told me to take orth. I talked to my sons ped and she told me not to take it because it will dry out my breast milk. I received a call from them and they said they could not find my end of cervical cells and want me to come back in in three months to scrape my whole cervix, Is this normal?

Part of a pap does involve something that looks like a little pipe cleaner. So that is normal and somme bleeding after the pap is normal. But if you are nursing, you shouldn't have been prescribed Ortho-Cyclen. they should have asked if you were breastfeeding and gave you the mini-pill which has no estrogen.

The only reason to have any other cervical procedure (scraping?) is if you had an abnormal result. If your pap didn't have enough cells, then all you need is another pap.

For information on breast feeding, contact your local "La Leche League." They can tell you about breast feeding and birth control and how to work it.
A pap-smear is a scraping of cells to see if there are changes in our cells, especially with regards to cancer. I've never heard of scraping the entire cervix to replace an area scraping. Have you doctor explain in better detail.

They may not have gotten a good sample and that is why they want you to come back. It is normal to bleed after a pap and yes they do you something like a pipe cleaner- ouch! If you want to continue to breast feed dont take orthocysclen. If your are taking it birth control use something else.
