Whenever you are asked his type of question, they are essentially asking you to factor the denominator.
In this case, as the numerator is x+5 it is probably a good bet that x+5 is one of the factors in the denominator.
As you can see,
-x^2-7x-10 => -(x^2+7x+10) => -(x+5)(x+2) it is!
Therefore, looking at the whole equation.....
x+5

-(x+5)(x+2)
Now you can simplify, since (x+5)/(x+5) = 1, your answer will be:

= -[x(x+2) + 5(x+2)]
= -(x+2)(x+5)

take a negative 1 out of the bottom then factor it. (x+5)(x+2) then cross out the (x+5) s and you are stuck with -1 over (x+2)
