That's true, and a lot of things have been pulled off of You Tube by the people that run it that are anti Bush! This site will not even let me post a You tube story indicating that contractors are getting fat and our kid's don't have equipment! Of course they will deny it and they send you a letter about problems with connections, but I tried posting it with the story, and it was always rejected, and without, and it was always accepted!
I have some Cd's made by a friend of mine, Jamie Green, with anti-war songs that I am trying to get played. One is titled, "What's Happening Here" . There are 9 songs on the CD. It is only for radio stations, so if you know any let me know!
I also have seen many anti-Bush articles disappearing from the web. One was an article by Rolling Stone which said essentially Bush is the worst US president, but I still have a copy! I can't believe these people get pushed around like they do by a president!
I still like the Buffalo Springfield and CSNY!

I don't know if it's the time for war songs.
People tend to look to the past for answers, and I suppose try to revive to "war songs" from the 70's for inspiration. The mentality of the nation isn't really heading toward an anti-war movement. No protest is very novel or effective. The president doesn't care that students are walking out of class or people are in a public park with signs.
The modern culture is becoming desensitized/habituated to all the antiwar movements; people are more interested in songs about loving a stripper than about an antiwar movement (again); people are too selfish and the media/politicians are making a fine line between supporting the troops and being a terrorists.
There is no need to control the media or the "cattle farm". Nothing is out of control but people's imagination. In 20 years people will still remember this war and the awful reasons for it, but they will not think that the media needed to be controlled (except Fox, but that's a different story), they will remember the unjustifiable reasons for going to the war in the first place.
People don't respond with songs and happy-gay-anti-war protests when they are lied to, they reply with something far more effective, but that hasn't come yet. We are not together as a community like we were after 9/11 anymore for something substantial to be done.
...then again that's just my view, probably inaccurate, but hey, free speech, right?

The satirist Tom Lehrer wrote the best war songs ever but they were quite a while ago from a funnier era. He wrote songs for World War III because he figured when we started it we might not have time to write songs if it became armagedon.
His songs include "The MLF Lullaby" "So Long Mom, I'm Off To Drop the Bomb" "First We Got the Bomb" and "We Will All Go Together When We Go" or of course "Send the Marines".
Tom was a brilliant Harvard mathematican so he also has songs about math and the periodic table of elements, and some very baudy songs.
Caution - Be careful - if you listen to these - they are very catchy and you soon may be singing about bombs - Just warning you !!! " Whose Next"
I was raised singing these songs as a little girl and my whole family is Republican and we sing these at family get togethers.

Here's an anti-war song written for old man bush back in 1992. It is just as relevant today as it was then. Like father, like son.
Wargasm
by L7
album: Bricks Are Heavy (1992)
Wargasm Wargasm, one two three
Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the amputee
Masturbate, watch it on TV
Crocodile tears for the refugee
Wargasm Wargasm, one two three
smutty bloody pictures, ecstasy
Blue balls waiting impatiently
From Alcatraz to Lady Liberty.
Body bags and dropping bombs,
The pentagon knows how to turn us on.
Wargasm Wargasm, one two three
People, people, ecstasy
wave those flags high in the air
As long as it takes place over there.
Wargasm
Wargasm
Wargasm
Wargasm
Body bags and dropping bombs,
the pentagon knows how to turn us, turn us on
Wargasm
Turn us on
Wargasm

There is a song called "Waiting on the world to change" by John Mayer.
But, he has the wrong approach. We can't "wait" on the world to change. People have to DO something. In this song, he has given up until the forces outside of him "change". A lame excuse for doing nothing.

Two anti war songs and video's come to mind that came out last year. "Eyes of the Insane" by Slayer (which by the way won a Grammy this year) and "Lies, Lies, Lies" by Ministry (which was nominated for a Grammy) There has to be more you just have to look.

My favorite War Song...its a country tune, it goes something like this:
"I love America, She is Free, but Remember you have to buy my record or Al Quaida wins"
actually I saw this on the Simpsons.
