There are a lot of cities that I would name my kid after. I'm from California and there are about 20 cities I would seriously consider using as a name from this state alone. These are some examples and they're all from CA. Acton, Angel ( Los Angeles is a cool city and all but I don't think it would make too good of a name although something like Angeles pronounced ah-N-gell-EE-ce like Angelice might be cute), Arvin, Avery, Benecia, Byron, Dillon, Dana, Diamond, Julian, Kelsey, Layton, Morgan, Quincy, Andreas, Helena, Joaquin, Shasta, Sierra, Tehama, Tracy and Tustin.
From the rest of the country something like Maddison, Olympia, Carson. Trenton, Pierre, Cheyenne, and Salem might be nice.
I'd stay away Paris and Venice and all the famous European cities although there are some not so famous French, Spanish and English cities that would make nice names.

None. Could you imagine if one day she became governor or ambassador and had to command power in that place?
Madison becomes Governor of Wisconsin? London becomes the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom? Don't see that happening? I don't either... so I just limited the potential jobs of my ambitious child. Even Brooklyn getting an advertising job in New York is going to be bad. Plus, think of all the Eiffel Tower tchotchkies that Paris is going to receive over a lifetime!
Only thing I'd consider... if the place was named for a human being in the first place - Georgia, Carolina, Virginia, Victoria, Charlotte - all first names (or close) of English Monarchs and Consorts.

America as a name would be nice ANYWHERE other than US. Here that child would be made fun of alot.
If I had a child and simply HAD to name it after a city.. I'd go with
Boy - Brookyn
Girl - Venice
I think the name Venice for a girl is SOO cute!

Girls-
Brooke Lynn
New York
Faith (after Santa Fe)
Virginia
Dallas
Maui
Boys-
Fransisco (San Fransisco)
Austin/Austen (Austin,TX)
Jackon (Mississippi)
I hope I helped!
PS
You've probably seen all these names in the other answers before, but I just wanted to point out that Maui wasn't on anybody's list, and I would name my daughter Maui, if I had one.
Really interesting question, here's a star*, no really, I gave you a star. Bye!

A family I know named their children Denver and Savannah. After the cities the parents were born in. It's really fun way to commemorate their birthplace, plus they're both really cute names!

I once named my dog Indiana....LOL Honest story. His nic. was INDY.
There is a line in one of the Indiana Jones movies that goes something like this: "So is your name Indiana? No, thats the name of my dog. So I named my dog Indiana
But to answer your question, I think Boise would be a good name for a girl.

Being a teacher, I see some weird kids names like China, Asia, and others. I always wondered why someone would name their child after a city, state or country. Maybe because they want to visit there someday? Poor babies.

My best friend named her daughter Denver, because her husband's favorite football team was the Denver Broncos. And her sister-in-law has twin girls named Dallas and Dakota! Oh and her husband's name is Orlando. That whole family is named after cities.
