Batting wise, its the best available team.Shewag ,you never know, how is he going to perform. But the way he batted in last test series in southafrica,no selector will pick him(getting out in first ball by slashing a wide ball).Perform ace of kaif,Harbhajan and Pathan is found wanting.Players of their class, they should have cemented their place in the side, but not.
Bowling wise, the team looks weak and inexperienced with only Zaheer and Anil Kumble having considerable experience..
The only way we can have a good series is when the batting comes good.

A team having an average age of 27 should have a good fitness level.Out of the three top batsmen, Saurav and Rahul are in good form.Sachin, though struggling a bit at present, should not take much time to reach his peak.Any of these three, on his day can steer the team to victory -single handedly. The bowling department is comparitively weaker. But, players like zaheer and Ronodeb are quite able to use the swing effectively under English conditions. If the key players can perform consistently, this team can emerge victorious.
As far as Shewag is concerned it appears that he has lost his touch-temporarily.So it had been wise to prevent him from getting exposed to the pace attack under english conditions where the ball is supposed to move and cut dangerously. He should take some time to regain his confidence.
Dinesh Kartik is a competent batsman and a reasonably good wicket keeper. It is always a privillage to have a player like him in the team.

as the experts constantly harass on tv, its only the bowling tht looks a little suspect. if zak, sree and kumble r fit and in gud form, i dont think india will hav much of a problem.
i do think, we missed a trick by not including pathan n kaif. pathan, exposed to favourable conditions, mite hav even got his mojo back! and kaif is pretty experienced in england, gud fielder and more importantly the sort of person whom u wud want in the team when u r down in the dumps.
i dont karthik is given any unrequired attention at all. if u saw his performance against b'desh, u wudnt ask tht question. forget the runs and the catches. his sheer determination and work ethic wud put most of the seniors to shame.

Yeah somewhat the right team. Its good to leave certain players and look for some good performers who are waiting for the platform to perform. Such include I Sharma, R Bose.
But the bowling lacks in experience.
Harbhajan is out of form and the chance should be given to other bowlers to perform well. Pathan good some chances to proove himself but failed. He should try and go to county cricket. Kaif goes in the same car as Pathan. Sehwag hasn't shown much improvement.
Dinesh Karthick is being given te required attention. He has lots of talent in him and is the future Dravid.

I strongly feel that the team selected for the tour of Ireland and England lacks penetration in bowling and one will haveto wait and see how the inexperienced bowlers perform in these series. As far as batting is concerned, the team is strong enough.
Referring to Dinesh Karthik, he has so far shown the sign of a promising player. Being a wicket keeper, his presence in the team will be added advantage.

dear friend, you are aware that cricket is a game of chance and any team which perform well on a given day, will succeed. India is not an expection. I think India will do well in England and South Africa, provided that the team performs well and work hard.We are carrying a team which consists of old and young players, though it is not the best team.

Pathan would have been useful. The rest have wasted their chances. Why this obsession with Karthick,he has made the best of the opportunities given to him.He is right behind a few victories that India could manage recently.

Indian cricket team can win against England but not against South Africa.
Indian cricket team has never had the best team.
Indian People, Indian cricket selection committee, BCCI may think that they are selecting the best team. Yes theory wise yes, but practically No.
I often support Indian cricket team even when they lose since I dont want to hurt the players or selection committee or BCCI.

they stand a chance against England but maybe not SA.
they need to bring some decent bowlers in the team e.g pathan, bring shewag back n take yuvraj out. i dont think karthik is required in the team and definitely not harbajhan.

History has witnessed. India have never performed well in other countries apart from Asia.
Let's just hope India to do well, we all have seen Ireland's performance in the World Cup and England is better team in their home conditions.
Dinesh Karthick is doing quite well from past few matches, thats why he have been give the opportunity.
Good Luck
