I would have to recommend Arches National Park in Utah and also White Sands National Park in New Mexico. There is also a very famous one in Wyoming.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want real Western history and are willing to drive, there are tons of places to go in Kansas. If you are willing to drive even further, Kansas City is a wonderful place to explore! I grew up in the Rockies above Boulder, but never made it to Wyoming. Would love to go someday. Yellowstone looks absolutely stunning.
The problem with a lot of these states is the drive time/distance between cities and attractions and the barren land between them. If you don't mind 6 hours of desert or scrub brush, then take a drive! Personally, I love road trips and would love to be able to see the US of A by car. Hmmm...Need a co-pilot? haha
