I totally agree ...... tears allow us to express and release the emotions that are built up inside which in turn allows us to let go and move on ..... a very positive thing. On the other hand if you don't allow yourself to cry and hold everything inside it just gets worse and keeps you down ... holds you back because there is no release .... you just keep on reliving your sadness until you lose yourself in it.
Whether we like it or not sadness is necessary in order to experience joy in our lives but we need to experience it , learn from it and move on.... being able to express and share our sadness is just part of the process ... it's how we grow.

Sort of. Tears are an emotional response. If one is in ouch with one's emotions, and if the emotions evoke tears, then let them flow. If, on the other hand, a person feels the emotions and feels the tears coming on and strives mightily to supress the tears, then that person is denying their own emotions. Supressikng emotions never really works because they come up in other areas and can really f**k up your life. I'm not sure tears being shown or being hidden is a sign of "strength" either way. But hidden tears probably suggest the need for therapy to get in touch with feelings.

i don't think it's a matter of strength or weakness. i do believe that tears is a good way to express your feelings and emotions. i like crying when i'm upset and when i'm alone in my room. i try not to shed my tears in front of others because i'm not a kid anymore. if you cried in public too often, it'd quite annoying and you'd look like a baby. people would even stay away from you because of that.

tears release magnesium from the body, thus aiding in relieving the tension. So physically and emotionally, tears ARE good! It is society that makes them bad. (Although you would be surprised on the number of men who cry. They usually just do it in private.)

strongly agree. Only confident men cry. For women, its not as much a stigma as it is for men so most of us cry without thinking much of it.
