Manfred Man - Blinded by the light
"Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night"
I need to know, I've heard this song all my life and am really starting to hate this lyric.

No, you are mistaken sorry. The song is about partying too hard with coke. 1.Blinded by the light = Pupils dilated 2.Runner = staying up through the night 3.Revved up like a duece = Wired 4. Tripped the merry - go round=Felt so wild 5. Told me I've got what it takes=meaning he's or she's so wild he can do the stuff without dying because it's so strong 6."I'll turn you on..."= Give you something (it's a slang i.e.Turn me on to a joint) 7.,Play the song with the funky break." = Play a song to groove too while they are wired. 8. checkin' out the weather charts to see if it was safe outside = Make sure there are no cops around 9. Early Burly asked me if I needed a ride = Someone early in the morning that wanted to pick him up because he was hitch hiking. 10. She got down but she never got tired = She's not wired anymore but she's not downed either 11. She's gonna make it through the night = She didn't O.D. The lyrics plainly state it, if you know slang.

As a teacher of literature, I love interpreting. Still, sometimes a song just has a good beat and a good rhyme (well, not sure about that part always being true). In popular music, this seems to sell.

Now just for fun, and even though, I think from your additional comment the question has been resolved in your mind let me answer :
"Blinded by the light:"
The old cliche: sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees or maybe the singer is in love with someone and believes they can do no wrong

"...revved up like a deuce..."

I don't know a lot about cards, still I'm guessing a deuce in a game of cards could go either way depending on what other players hold in their hands. For this reason I guess, it means they will risk the possibility of rejection or act on impulse driven by passion

"another runner in the night:"

Just as they "revved up" they lost their nerve; fear of rejection or people's perceptions causing them to stall. Going everywhere and getting nowhere...

The singer is still searching for true love but probably kissed a lot of toads or had a lot of one night stands and is tired of empty promises.

"Madman dummers bummers,
Indians in the summer,
With a teenager diplomat
And the dumps with the mumps
As the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder my shoulder,
feeling kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground"

He's a performer who has been high and while performing, he trips the merry go round. Which means the merry go round of getting high and coming down and getting high. Tripping the merry go round means coming down. The calliope crashing to the ground is him crashing. Sneezin and wheezin etc.. has to do with withdrawal symptoms.

"Blinded by the light
revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night"

Blinded by the light refers being coked up. Revved up, speeding on coke. Another runner in the night means to go and try to find more drugs.

"Some silicon sister with a manager mister
told me I go what it takes."

Some prostie or stripper with a pimp/dealer tells him shes got what he needs. (a fix.)

"She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong
play the song with the funky break""

She tells him she has what he needs. Something stronger to help him hit his high.

"And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the
weather charts see if it was safe outside"

Go Cart Mozart was the lookout for the cops. Checked the weather charts (to see if any cops are around) to see if it was safe.

"And little Early Burly came by in his curly wurly
and asked me if i needed a ride"

Early Burly is the dealer and hooked him up.

: )
