The best solution is population control. how come no one asks "why are hungry / poor people reproducing?" instead of food, people should pass out condoms. When you feed the hungry, they reproduce more creating an even bigger problem.

Food aid is worthless when dictators steal all the food!! There is more than enough food to feed the world. Hunger is a political problem, not an economic one. Get rid of the warlords and you'll get rid of hunger.

Usually not.
Famine is not usually an issue of food availability but rather of poverty. Recent famines in Malawi, Ethiopia and a huge one in Bengal in the 1940s were in spite of plentiful food. The issue was unemployment. People not earning anything in countries without the ability to provide a safety net cannot afford to eat.
Shipping in vast amounts of food is often counterproductive as it may increase unemployment when local growers and sellers are put out of business.

Oooh, I had a similar idea. There are these plants with edible parts. You can just pull those parts off, and eat them, and later they will grow back! Plus, they have the added benefit of not being squirmy - you could just plant them all in a giant field and walk through, pulling off the edible parts. I wonder why no one's thought of this before?

No, I think that education is the only way to erradicate hunger. In stead of giving these countries millions of dollars in food, and cash, we need to educate them on agriculture, and farming there lands. How to maintain the crops, and irregate. This will teach them to become self sufficient. Harvest the seeds from plants and start over. I am sad for these nations, but they do need to be educated.

delivering food to the gov't officals that are causing the genocide is seldom a good way to alleviate starvation. if it is a starvation driven by natural forces dropping food on the afflicted might work.
