All you have to do is press Alt and a number. The number you press must be from the numlock pad. So,
Alt +1 ☺
Alt + 2 ☻
Alt +3 ♥ <--- Theres your heart
Alt + 14 ♫

Steps:
1. First shift click on the number 7(about the letters not the number pad), which should give you a &
2. Without making a space, type out hearts so that you will now have &hearts
3. Again, without making a space, type a ; You should now have & hearts ; (without the spaces)

You can also just type alt+3 with the number pad.

Well, my computer is Japanese, so i press this little button at the top left corner, and it will turn the english letters to japanese, and then i type the japanese word for heart (ãã¼ã) then a little list comes up and i choose either "ãã¼ã", "ã¯ã¼ã¨" or ”â¡”
usually i dont need to choose in the list, cause the computer chooses the best out of the selection
