They're isn't any way to treat vaginosis at home. Go to the doctors, if you don't have insurance contact your local planned parenthood. They have a sliding scale fee, meaning that you don't pay any more then you can afford.
Unfortunately, if left untreated for too long it will only get worse. The smell will worsen, the discharge will increase... there could be serious long term affects if you don't go get a prescription.
Nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. You're not gross, this doesn't make you "dirty"... everyone with a vagina has experienced this or will experience it at least once in their lifetime...
THE IGNORANT COMMENTS THAT ARE BEING LEFT HERE IN LIEU OF AN ACTUAL ANSWER (such as "eww", "that's nasty"..) ARE RATHER SURPRISING CONSIDERING THEY ARE COMING FROM MOSTLY WOMEN/GIRLS. EDUCATE YOURSELVES ABOUT YOUR BODY BEFORE YOU GO PASSING JUDGEMENT ON ANOTHER WOMAN. GROW UP.

Impossible to cure it yourself. If it is bacteria, you'd have to know what kind of bacteria it is to know which antiobiotic to treat it with. That's why they take a culture. And you can't be sure it's "only" a bacterial infection. You could have multiple types of infections, or even an STD. From your description, it sounds like it might be trich, which is not a bacteria. It's treated with Flagyl, and you can only get it by prescription. There are no alternative, natural, or over the counter treatments unless you're talking about a yeast infection, which it doesn't sound like.

Yikes! If you have a bacterial infection go to a doctor, there is no way around it. If you just had a simple yeast infection some over the counter stuff would clear it up in a couple of days.

If it's that bad, you really DO need to see the doctor. Otherwise you are putting yourself at serious risk. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but you can't safely treat yourself without medical help. I know these matters can be embarrassing, but doctors are used to this sort of thing all the time. You can request that a woman examine you, rather than a man.
Infections like these can have hidden dangers, can weaken you generally, can spread elsewhere, and can damage your reproductive organs. This isn't something you want to deal with without professional medical help.

Are you sure it's bacterial?
It would probably be best if you saw your doctor. I can see not going for a cold or something, but feminine issues are a whole different matter. It could be serious, or it could be a simple yeast infection; but it can't hurt to go to your doctor.

A vaginal bacterial infection can land you on the hospital if not treated properly. You really need to see a doctor.

Maybe if you pray hard enough it will go away.
Seriously, if its that bad, why not go to the doctor? What are you worried about - that they are going to tell you what it really is? What if it gets worse, causing blood poisoning, infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, or some other nasty? Get to the doctors and get yourself treatment - no alternatives.
***Yogurt is only good in helping treat thrush - and that doesn't sound like thrush.

Why wont you go to the doctor? A perscription is the only way to kill the bacteria, so just get over to the doctors office and get a perscription. Not treating this can be very dangerous for you it can lead to ther problems!!!

you can't cure it at home, you will need some antibiotics like bactrim, tetracycline. if you're using products like bubble bath or soap with perfume in it then you need to stop;also having sex without a condom could cause this. so make sure you see a doctor

There isn't a reliable home remedy. Go see your doctor. Bacterial vaginosis is nothing to mess around with.
