by law, you can only hit her in self-defense AND only until the threat of imminent bodily harm/death is over AND only if there is no other way to avoid harm (can you run away?). the minute you are no longer in danger, you have to stop or you are committing assault.
i'd smack her.

Why does it have to be a woman? Why not, "would you hit any given person if?"
And...why is the person wielding a weapon? Are you one hundred percent sure it IS a weapon?
Why do we ASSUME this person is a threat? Are we acting on an as-yet unverified theory?
Violence solves nothing. I'd certainly take out my cell phone and call 911 if I felt threatened by anyone. And use my cell phone camera to record evidence.

Without hesitation. A woman is as much a threat as a man, sometimes more.
Just ask any cop who deals with domestic disputes.
And some of you really should get a grip on reality. Your answers show your naivety and preoccupation with being "nice" to everyone.

HELL YA!!! I'm a woman and I would give anyone permission to knock her down if she has a weapon or is a definite threat. You have to protect yourself. Now if she wasn't holding a weapon you could probably bring her to the ground w/out to much force but if she has a weapon? I wouldn't think twice about it!!!

No. I view the threat when the attacker moves towards me with weapon in hand.

Yes. That's about the only time a man can hit a woman if she's a serious threat.. Even THEN you'd have to prove it was in your defense.

I run by the hospitol level injury rule. If this person gets me, will I need lots of stiches, surgery, bullet removed etc. If yes, hit her. This rule works with anyone, even the elderly.
