I have learned that appearances can be deceiving.

So, no, I don't put much stock in appearances.

I'd love to say no but unless it's someone I know I'm sure at some level I form opinions based on dress, body language, cleanliness, and what the person says. However, I think when you get to know people your first impressions are not always correct. My friends don't always wear what i would and i doubt they'd wear what i do.

Of course not... ha! In all seriousness, yes, it affects it about 80%. And people that say no are either hipocrytes or are angels on earth. It might differ in a "get to know" basis, but as first impression, image is everything! Just read the first paragraph of the website below...

I'd love to be totally cool and say, "Oh no! Appearances are nothing!" But, yes, I have to admit that I make snap-judgements sometimes about how people look and dress, how clean they are, etc. But it also depends on what, where, and whom, I guess.
I'm not shallow by any means, I will say that. I usually just kinda let it roll off my shoulders so to speak, and am nice to everyone (how I was raised, aaaawww!) But I think it's natural for everyone to make snap-judgements, or there wouldn't be shows like "What Not To Wear" ...
:-)

Usually no. Now if i was interviewing somebody or if i was in the office, than yes because the office is not the kind of place to dress down. I think people should take pride in themselves and take care of themselves. I really try not to judge people by what they look like though. Don't judge a book by its cover!

No not really...they do have to have some sort of style at least. I don't care about brands or anything like that as long as they have a style whether its emo, preppy, or street it doesn't matter. Oh and good hygiene of course! I remember one day I was going to get gas (for the car) and I looked a mess because it was late, I was sleepy, and I forgot my comb. This guy kept staring at me and I was like omg I look that bad and he approached me and was nice he didn't even bother mentioning my outfit or my hair he was REALLY sweet!

Yes, the way a person dresses is a statement they are making. It can mean "look, I'm hip" or "I just don't care what others think" or "I'm all about work". As with any statement, it can be true or not, but it deserves "listening to" as like any other statement.

I agree with Diane. I prefer clean over all else. Dress how you want, just take a shower and wear clean clothing.

have you seen the game show, identity? it teaches you that looks aren't everything. sometimes i look at people and their cleanliness (ie, smell bad and covered in dirt). some people dress weirdly, but they're still nice people.

When people see us Jedi, they treat us with respect due to the clothing we wear. our clothing represents the ancient heritage of the Jedi clan. We wear these clothes in order to remain tapped into the force.
