When thinking about dating/flirting etc etc,.. do you use the internet for chatting or to actually meet up?

I'd like to know how many of you use the net solely for chatting rubbish/waffle or do you actually put it to good use and actually meet up with those you've briefly chatted to? Do you still think the internet is a bad place to meet up or do you think that with a little common sense, forethought and honesty it could be a fabulous means with which to meet people? Do you also realise that to meet someone in a bar or a club that you've never met before etc etc is more dangerous than to chat to them first online before meeting them? There's pictures of them you can see.. a face to face on a webcam each to be shared and of course voice-over-IP,.. (Skype etc etc),... then naturally the telephone,. so why the stigma attached to the internet as a means to meet people, (in person, in the flesh). Would love to know your opinions/views etc. Thanks!

I met my boyfriend,(plus others before him) on internet dating sites, i think they are ideal as a lot of people do not want to go to pubs and clubs to meet other people, i get to know a lot about them by chatting to them online, and once i feel i know them well enough i go and meet them in a safe place, ie where a lot of people are, plus i always gave my son/daughter the phone number, and address of whoever i was meeting, and also the time and place. and of course the membership number, i found internet dating sites great, and i say good luck to anyone who tries it. x

I met my fiance online through an internet personals site, we chatted online for quite a while before deciding to meet (safely I might add, told people where I was going and where etc and who with - just in case)...

We have been together for nearly four years and he is my best friend, my lover, my fiance.....I have thanked whatever fortune
