Each and every volunteer should have to feed 10,000 starving children all over the world before being permitted to step foot into any training facility.

No. They are looking for volunteers to train for going to Mars.
They plan to put those selected into a confined space resembling a ship, where they will live and work together handle simulated emergencies for something like a year and a half (the length of time it would take to get there and back).
An actual trip to Mars and back still has MANY logistical problems yet to be and no where near being solved

I heard about that. Six men and women. Well they will have a lot of time on their hands and there should be plenty of TANG.
Maybe we should send William Oefelien and Lisa Nowak. They could fornicate their way across the solar system in front of the other astronauts instead of behind everybody's backs including their spouses the way they did for two years here on Earth.

if that they had enable me perform a little geoscience, i could be tempted. yet in recent times... nicely... I extremely have attachments which might make being away for 3 years complicated. Barring that, i would not want the perfect nutrition or the perfect entertainment; i've got accomplished long deployments in decidedly... spartan circumstances. a minimum of up there i could have decent sanitation and no person can shoot at me. Hell, if it weren't for somebody waiting for me to come again back, i would not techniques lots if my odds of survival have been somewhat... exciting.

Already been there. It was way too hot, a bit windy, and I had a difficult time finding a mini mart to buy beer. And to top it all off, these little green dudes kept following me around and creeping me out.
Sorry, I won't go back until they build a nice five star hotel with a decent eatery.
