I know what you mean -does Hollywood even go to a good book store?
Do you know how many really good books, that could be turned into movies, are out there?
i feel the same way about redoing a movie that has already been done (Flight of the Phoenix, Doctor Doolittle, etc). What was wrong with the first one?
Le's just chalk this one up to - Hollywood have no sense of imagination or originality.
As Stephen Spielberg said in regards to Land before Time "I'll leave it to Disney to do the subsequent fifteen sequels."
Be that as it may be, I can't finish without mentioning a few sequels they haven't done yet:
Carpathia - The ultimate rescue
Californian - The ultimate shrug off
Titanic? Never heard of it! Starring Robert Ballard

When something's a big hit, there's a guaranteed audience slobbering for more. Why take a risk on a new story idea when they can get a hit by tweaking an old one? That's the unfortunate mentality. I totally agree that this year's pickings are pretty slim. "Spider-man 3," "Shrek 3," and "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" were all poor clones of the much better originals.
I'm sure Hollywood producers are especially frustrated by hits that cannot possibly have sequels-- "300" and "Titanic" for example.

The art of making good movies has gone forever. They are only interested in making as much money as possible with as little effort by churning out sequels which appeal to the younger audience. This way they don't have to come up with too many new ideas for movies which may flop at the box office.

They look at the Box Office take(money) see what sales the tickets and continue with that formula. In some cases (re-makes and TV to movie) doesn't always work (I Spy,Mod Squad) ( Re-makes The Hills Have Eyes 1,2) all failed, yet they still try.

this is because hollywood cares ALOT more about money than making quality movies. therefore if a movie makes alot of money. they take it and twist it a little, put some other characters in it and put out back out and make tons of money. and thats why you see alot of the same movies just redone kind of. cause thats how they make alot of money cause they know it will sell good anyways

They are riding on the coat tails of the success of the first or second one. When one is successful, people want more of it and it's almost a guarantee that those who saw the first one will go see the second and third, etc.
