I actually don't mind it most of the time, but sometimes I just like to be alone without any company. How can I tell her to relax with the visits? THX

your in a tight situation where you could become the bad guy real quick. This is your wife's family and she should be the one to tell her, your wife probably does not want to hurt anyones feelings but there is a way to do it to please everyone. your wife can tell her that your marriage needs alone time and offer a few nights for visits.

Just be honest with her and let her know how you are feeling. Set up "family nights" and plan things with them. I personally would do a theme night with them, they looked forward to it and left us alone until then. Make sure you say how you are feeling in those terms and not honey I love your family BUT, etc... She will focus on the but and instantly turn defensive. Be careful with the wording and good luck.

Have you talked to wife about it? How does she feel? You two need to come to some consensus before you press on. The news would come easier to your in-laws if your wife were to be the one to say to them that she needs alone time with you. If you are the one who tells them to not come, this could cause marital problems depending on how your wife feels about it. So talk to her before you do anything else.

Buy a Open/Close sign and another one outlining the "business hours" and then hang them at the door. This is a humorous approach and reasonable people get the picture.

Do it just like you did here....tell her to relax with the visits. Period.

She does discuss these visits with you in advance? Be honest, tell her you don't feel like a visit right then, or so often,(be nice about it).

Tell her you're not running a hotel. The family has got to go.

Just come right out and tell them, you want some alone time.
Be assertive now or you will become agressive later.
