Somebody told me that it is easier on your body if you drink room temperature water...if it is, why is that so?

If you need to drink a lot of water, then it should not be too cold. I was told that too much cold water can lower your core temp by a few degrees, giving you a stomach ache. I tried it once (in my stupid youth) and sure enough, I was in pain for while. Now I drink water that is room temp, if I am exercising, or cool if I am just sipping.

I have head that before so i don't know. In my personal opinion I would say drink cold water because it taste better. I really don't see how the temperature would change it so i say it doesn't matter. One thing I do know is that most people are already dehydrated but don't know it. And by the time the realize it is really bad. So...drink lots of water...room temperature or cold...to stay hydrated all the time : )

Cold water tends to require more energy to warm to body temp which dehydrates you a bit more. As well, you can drink a larger volume of water when it's warmer. Best bet, don't get dehydrated. Average person should be drinking a gallon of water a day when it's summertime.

If you are becoming severely dehydrated, room temperature water would probably be best as your body would have to work harder to warm and process cold water. Your body reacts totally different under stressful circumstances.

As I remember, you should drink room-temperature water when dehydrated, as the body will absorb it immediately. If it is cold water, the body needs to heat it before it can absorb it.

I don't think there is any scientific proof for it though........

Labaci and another here were right. Core temperature lowering would have the effect, however slight, of additional energy expenditure in a stressed body.

I was told you should drink cold water. I really don't think it makes a big difference. What is more important is that you drink only water, not soda, tea, beer, milk, etc.
