Honestly, I cant believe some of the stuff I read on here. T.I., best rapper of all time...my goodness.
Any artist who has been in the game 10+ years and still hasnt delivered a classic album doesnt belong on any top 5 (lil wayne)..its hard to argue against tupac hear, but lets be serious...eazy-e was underrated but top5 is a stretch...some guys also in discussion for g.o.a.t.-rakim, krs 1, (im fine with ice cube in the top 5), b.i.g....as far as past 10 years you would have to throw jay-z, nas, and eminem into the discussion..

Yall are obviously undereducated when it comes to rap music, because there are cats who paved the way for Lil Wayne, T.I., and The Game! If you wanna know what rap is listen to Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5, KRS-One, and The Sugarhill Gang.
Yall may have never heard of my 1st rapper, but just give him a listen.
1. Big L- created the punchline and was on his way to Rocafella until he got murdered in 1999
2. Nas- Just listen to Illmatic and you'll see why
3. Notorious B.I.G.- he was better than Pac because he had better lyrics
4. Tupac- overrated, but numbers don't lie he was loved
5. Jay-Z- MEN LIE, WOMEN LIE, NUMBERS DON'T!

I chose my best by what they have done in their illustrious careers, and basically those who have made the most contributions to Rap in general. Jay - Z is just a business mogul who made it from rags to riches...literally. Snoop and Ice Cube revolutionized Rap with the whole East Coast West Coast Battle, Nas is just straight fire, and is probably one of the most respected and most talented ever...
And what can I say about Tupac...Everyone should have him in their top 5 at least. He was such a great person, so real, so true to himself. He rapped about real problems in society, and all the injustices he rapped about were actually happening.

1. Rakim (cmon, listen to his music--any of it.)
2. Nas (illmatic was the greatest ever)
3. KRS One (has been putting down some of the sickest rhymes for the longest amount of time)
4. Big Daddy Kane (how did everyone forget about him--seriously, theres no way he's not one of the greatest)
5. Jay-z (even though he sold out, he still has one of the greatest track records of all time)
