Try The Obsidian Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory. It's about a battle between light and dark. There are differenty types of mages, elves, a dragon, unicorns, demons, and many other mythical creatures. The 3 books are:
The Outstretched Shadow
To Light A Candle
When Darkness Falls
I also recommend:
The Winds Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey (Winds Of Fate, Winds Of Change, & Winds Of Fury)
Chronicles Of The Cheysuli by Jennifer Roberson (Shapechanger's Song, Legacy Of The Wolf, Children Of The Lion, & The Lion Throne)
The Wheel Of Time Series by Robert Jordan

Thank you for giving specific examples about the books you like since it's hard to recommend a book to someone if you don't know what they like.
I would recommend Tamora Pierce, Garth Nix, Monica Furlong, Gail Levine, Diane Duane, Christopher Paolini (Eragon trilogy), Alison Croggon (The Gift and The Riddle),Clive Barker, and even John Bellair though his stories are meant to be a bit spooky.
As for specific books, The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer, the Charlie Bone series by Jenny Nimmo, Witch Child by Celia Rees, Dragon and Thief by Timothy Zahn, and The Singer of All Songs trilogy by Kate Constable

Robert Asprin's "Another Fine Myth" is a light-hearted fantasy, the series is a lot of fun. Asprin has other series that might be of interest also. "Phule's Company" is a sci-fi adventure set in the equivalent of the foreign legion, with alien races replacing the fantasy characters. "Time Scout" co-written by Linda Evans has a bit of a "Babylon 5" setting where people prepare to travel through time rifts to experience Earth's past. Asprin has another series concerning fairies singing Rock & Roll in our modern world.
Roger Zelazny's "Nine Princes In Amber" is a very good read. Short on the magical creatures, but high on the action, adventure and magic end of things.
Terry Pratchett's Discworld is a laugh-riot. Do not be discouraged by the number of books in the series. They can be sub-divided by main characters and you usually don't have to read all of them to understand what is going on. I reccomend "Going Postal" and "Guards! Guards!" as starting points; but if you want to start at the real begining, check out "The Colour Of Magic."

Try the book Twilight and the sequel New Moon. They have vampires and werewolves and humans in the story. It is a fantasy cause u will fall in love with Edward Cullen the vampire. It's got plenty of action, and you will be entertained through the whole book. The author is Stephenie Meyer. There is another sequel coming out August 7th called Eclipse. I hope you enjoy it!

Try reading "Eragon" and its sequal, "Eldest". They are both great books to read.
I didn't like the movie, it was horrible, they changed so much or the original story....it was almost criminal! I would love to get my hands on the guy who wrote that screen play...it was so horrible!!!!
