Aren't Hollywood stars overrated in terms of looks?

I mean, there are handsome people everywhere.
Your guy or girl next door is probably more beautiful than a hollywood star.
Tom Cruise is not that handsome, neither is Paris Hilton or Nicole Kidman. Why are they being treated like beauty gods?

it's true, and it's also true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
you'll find the "girl's next door" are often more beautiful than hollywood stars, as starts aren't just judged on their looks but also their acting abilities.
And remember, the movies you see them in and the magazines they are in, the majority of are heavily airbrushed.
Often you will hear stories of people seeing these celebrities out in the street and not knowing them, or seeing they are quite average looking without their makeup artist, hairstylist, clothing stylist and of course, retouching.
