Here is what I have gathered from far and wide...

KoЯn

Its from a book that Jonathan Davis read the book was called *kids from the korn* (I think this person meant "Children of the Corn."

The whole band was playing scrabble while they were high. Jonathan used the word corn but he spelled it "KORN". He also like put the "R" backwards or something.

Lead singer Jonathan Davis wrote many songs about his childhood, so the band chose a vegetable and wrote in a childlike way with a "K" and a backwards "R".

It was because at a party which Jonathan Davies (the bands singer) was at, there was a joke going around about two gay guys, who were eating out eachothers *****, and one of them blue **** on the others face, and he opened his mouth and there was corn kernel on it. Also because its a cool name, and David (the drummer) says its because of the way it shows how it doesn't matter what your band is called. Jonathan decided it should be spelt like that because it is sort of how a small child might spell Corn.

One of the guys had a like a 4 year old who one day was writing and didn't know how to spell yet and was trying to write the word "corn" but instead wrote "korn" with the backwards R.

I'm getting this form the unofficial KoRn biography. It's says that "Once the fivesome got together, they needed a new name. Allegedly Korn just came to Jonathan, and the others, once he spat it out, said, 'F*ck yeah!' Jonathan created the ominous, childlike Korn logo with just one attempt, writting the band's name with his left hand with a crayon." Nothing about 2 guys sucking each other or a piece of corn. Just something that popped into Jonathan's head.

Since they are from Bakersfield California, they get KORN from the TV show Hee-Haw which was the name of the radio station on one of the skits. Buck Owens, from Bakersfield, was the co-star of the 70's sketch comedy show.

They wanted to prove that any band can make it big no matter what they call themselves.

Korn starts with Kern County which is where Jonathan worked as a Coroner. From that came "KoRn". It was then decided that it would be written like a child would write it, hence the K instead of a C, and the backwards R.

'm pretty sure "korn" has german roots. It may indicate a preference of German culture, heritage, history, etc. Whatever the implication of using this particular namesake, "korn" is unmistakably German. It is a surname, and also a type of Germanic manservant/bodyguard.

John Davis was at a party and saw 2 gay guys kissing and it looked as if one had a piece of corn on the tip of his tongue. They spelt it Korn because they thought it was cooler.

I don't really think it stands for anything, they just wanted to purposely misspell corn with a "k" instead of a "c."

Maybe you can find something in this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korn

Korn (sometimes typeset as "KoЯn" to fit their official logo)

Here is the answers to some rumors and questions about KoRn.
"I heard Jon killed his parents,is that true?" - No that is absolutely false!!! Jon's parents are fine and well in California.
"I heard Munky and Brian cross dress (like wearing dresses) at shows, is that true?" - Hell No!!! Brian usally sports a flannel and baggy pants, and Munky sometimes sports a Coroner jacket and pants, but they never wear dresses!

"Does Jon have HIV or Aids? I saw an HIV tatoo on his arm" - NO, the HIV tatoo is a "**** YOU!!" to all the people who called Jon a ****** in High-School!

"Is Jon a homosexual?" - NO, Jon has a girfriend and a son!

"Does Jon use heroin?" - NO, but he is known to drink some mean alcohol.

"Does the name KoRn really stand for Kiddie Porn?" - No. Here is the real story of how KoRn got it's name, but if you have just finished a meal or don't like sick stories don't read this! Jon was at a party in his home town Bakersfeild where he overheard two of his gay friends talking about having sex with each other and eating each others asshole out when one of them blew diarrheah all over the guys face and when he opened his mouth he had a KoRn knernel on his tounge, so Jon went around saying "corn" to all the people who heard the story and making them sick. He spelled it like a little kid would and used it for their name

What's Jonathan's connection with Marilyn Manson? - Jon laughs and tells me a story. “I was round Manson’s house one night and there was this chick. We tied her down and she was begging us to hurt her, to put cigarettes out on her and shove ice cubes up her and stuff. We were recording the whole thing. We were like, giving her full force punches in the face and she was begging us for more and screaming at the same time - we beat the **** out of her. We recorded the whole thing and Mr Manson used it as the first track to his “Smells like Children” CD. But before it was released it was banned and removed, but I have a copy of it in the tour bus.

Why does Jonathan play the bagpipes? - Jonathan Davis is surely the only bagpipe playing rock star. On the band'ss self-titled debuit album you can hear him hooting away on 'Shoots and Ladders'. He also drags the tartan terrors out on stage. Sir, what on earth are you thinking of?

"My Grandmother was Scottish, so I grew up listening to the pipes," he says. "She bought me some and I took a music course. Then I started competing in Scottish games up and down California. I won some ribbons."

"I have my full kilt and dress, so I have all that traditional side," Davis beams. "But I wanted to do something different. It doesn't have to be snooty classical pipe music. When I come out with the pipes during a show, it really ***** the crowds' heads up. I love it, let me tell you."

What's the story behind Daddy? - The song "Daddy" is about the terrors of rape and molestation. Jon was molested as a child, but by someone outside of his family, and this song is his vent. Jon said that he had a hard time explaining this song to his parents, though.

Did Jonathan really work as an Autopsy assistant? - Yes. He worked as a part-time autopsy assistant for the Kern County coroner's office until he was 22, when he joined KoRn.

What's Jonathan saying in Ball Tongue? - It's just gibberish. Nothing more. There are no words, just gibberish. But korn did make up words to use on tour, and those words can be found here.

What's the connection with the Deftones? - "Deftones are like our brother band. When we were in California they were from the North, we from the South. We used to switch up and down the coast and when we play together we usually do a song together."

What's the significance of Jon's tattoos? - The HIV tattoo: Nicknamed HIV as a sort of agreement with the "*****" term he was dubbed in high school. He does not in fact have AIDS or the HIV virus. In fact Jonathan is in fact now the father of a baby boy, Nathan.

- The Crazed Bishop: "The bishop is a symbol of the atrocities that religion are making. He's ripping up my skin to reveal Christ, its more of a symbol of how corrupt religion is. I don't believe in any of it because of **** like televangelism and ****. Do you really think that all that money really goes to charity?"
