Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.

This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973.

I will try not to expand on the non-binding resolution, or the bills for immediate withdrawal, or the discussions on letting the enemy know the exact date of our withdrawal, or the obvious policy of defeat adopted by the democratic congress - but I must mention that when the democratic senate leader tells the enemy that the United States has lost the war while our troops are on the front lines and in harms way - well, I'm only surprised that they still have 14% support.

Correction, 14% for ALL of congress, not just democrats.

Congress has been consistently ranking low for awile know. According to the article it was 18% last year when the republicans were in control.

I think what notched it a bit lower this year was that the elected democrats said they would force through a timetable on Iraq, and then ended up bending over. That really POd a lot of people.

If you make a promise like that, you have to deliver. Congrss didn't deliver, so it took a low rating and made it about 4 points lower.

We need third parties BADLY.

I dont see where this 14% is coming from.

"The current 24% rating is similar to the poor ratings Congress received last year, with Americans essentially voting to take control of Congress away from the Republicans in November"

From the looks of it, the Republicans were in decline the entire 2006-2007.

So you know, if you want to spew party vs. party petty arguments, at least get the facts straight.

Edit: since when did military become a republican thing? Only a moron would think that "Ooo, the democrats are so against the military" High military ratings doesnt mean anything in the party divide.

Secondly, why are people linking Gallup poll itself, NOT USA blog, getting thumbed down?

Asker: you read my link: 24%...your source supposedly quotes my source and you are asking me to believe your link over mine?

I've been a republican since I was old enough to know the difference. I even voted for GW. I'm not happy with the way GW is running our country. But the new democratic majority has made it even harder for GW to run the country. I'm thankful that I don't run this country. Think about it, how would you feel as a soldier in Iraq or Afghanistan? This congress is basically telling them that , 'you can't win so we're cutting off your your funds'. I was at war back in the 60's and 70's, and if my goernment said that to me,I probably would not be alive today. BUT DON'TCOME TO ME
WHEN YOUR TAXES GO UP AND GAS IS $4 to 5.00 A GALLON.
I think GW has gone brain-dead. But think how things are going to work when you have to wait 6 months to get medical help becuase that liar that pull's Bill around by the nose, is elected.
My girlfriend and I are already looking for places to live in Mexico. We're both disabled and KNOW we won't be able to afford heath care. Now that I think about it, maybe I could get Michael Moore to help me out.

24% according to Gallup, but still the all time low.

Perhaps if they weren't so hell bent on jamming through this poor excuse for an immigration bill, they might be at 25%.

Ride_The_Lightning...since Bush issued his third veto in 7 years (2 regarding stem cell research and 1 regarding a pork filled defense spending bill) just today, are you implying that the Democrats have only attempted these three pieces of legislation since they took control?

Ask yourself this.
If congress is this unpopular - but the majority want a Dem in the Whitehouse - what does that say about the state of affairs among your lot.
Yes it is a fact that there is massive dissatisfaction with the state of politics in this country. It is ludicrous however to pretend the Dems are entirely responsible and even more ludicrous to spout divisive nonsense such as "Dems are destroying our country".
Republican leaders were in denial as to how the country felt about them in 2006. Unless they wake up and stop trying to blame Dems for the problems they will find themselves in a much bigger mess in 2008.

Dems. barely have a majority and can't really get anything passed. People want REAL results. People are irritated with both Republicans and Democrats. Neither side is better at this point because they refuse to work together. I would be hesitant to express joy about the recent polls; it suggests a failure in collaboration, and once again, nothing will be accomplished. I doubt our forefathers had this in mind...

What these people have been ponting to is a job approval poll, not a confidence poll.

The confidence poll is to be published Thursday June, 22nd.

Funny how they try to be smart and bash you when they are the ones being STUPID.

Politicians of both parties are destroying the country. I read the article a few minutes ago. Scary, but not surprising. VOTE!!! study the record of each candidate on every issue, make yourself smart, and vote. Too many of us are voting based on race or gender or just looks.... don't do that. Make your vote count. And my morning vent these days is to email the two senators from my state.
