My husband is going to graduate soon (I've already done so) and now we're trying to find a place to live. He's going into the medical field, so we can basically live anywhere where there is a hospital. We want to live somewhere between Idaho and Michigan, but none of the southern states. There has to be high mountains, and lots of trees and lakes. We're starting a family, so most importantly, there must be good schools and family-friendly neighborhoods, including low crime rates. And (as if we weren't being picky enough), we'd like to live in a place that isn't too much in the city but not too far away, say a town of 15,000-30,000. The places I have looked that seem the closest are Pennsylvania (I know, it isn't between Idaho and Michigan), Missouri, and Minnesota. Any good suggestions in these states or others? I am willing to research as many suggestions as I get, so please don't be shy. Thank you

You are being very silly to ask here. Anyone who will answer has either been very lucky or is very sarcastic.
Two families can move to the very same lodcation and have the very same criteria for a place to live. One family will find it to be the best place they could ever think of, the other family will find it to be the worst.
I don't know why the difference, nor will anyone be able to tell you the difference but a big part of it will be your partner and your wanting to make things work.
Go forward with a positive attitude and make things work for you and your family. Even if things are less than perfect both of you will have opportunities to do something better in life. Whatever happens, it is really the two of you that make life happy.pp

You might consider Utah, great mountains, family friendly, lots of trees and lakes, relatively low cost of living. We like southern Utah, Cedar City has the regional hospital. Bryan Head is the local ski resort town. There are many lakes in the area and many trials for snow mobiling, atv's or biking. You can get a place with some land around you reasonably. Clean air and water, and lots of National park lands around. Cedar City is a university town, and has a good performing arts festival.

I am moving to Saskatchewan. Houses are cheap, Saskatoon is a beautiful city, the crime rate is relatively low, they have vast amounts of natural resources and I think they would welcome university grads, they also have a decent uni there.
It gets cold though, probably not unlike Minnesota.
