I don't care because I will not be here anymore. I will let my family chose what they want to do with my remains as I want them to do what will bring them closure and peace.

Cremated

2007-06-28 15:27:36 · answer #2 · answered by Missy 1 · 1 0

Cremated, and I have already arranged for this to happen. I cannot see spending money on a casket just so this will be put in the ground with me only to RUT over the years when people will have had a chance to see this expensive box for a few hours over a few days time. BIG waste of money in my opinion. And I can't see spending all this money on the funeral home as well. Today a funeral (average cost) is about $7000,00 - $12000,.00 I really can't see the need for this expense. If I had a choice, I say put me out with the trash, but they won't let me do this. So the cheapest way at this point in time is to cremate me. NO WAKE, NO BURIAL.

I want to be cremated when I die. There are a number of reasons for this choice. First, when I'm dead I won't be feeling the flames and they're hot enough so that my body would become ash nearly instantaneously. Second, the earth is a finite resource and we cannot afford to continue to chew up real estate with people being planted and the land not being used over and over again. People can still be "put" in the place they prefer, it's just that their remains will be more transitory and, simultaneously, at one with the landscape. I think it would be a fabulous memorial to the deceased to have photographs of the moment of their reunion with the earth. I can see that sort of thing as a background with an image of them superimposed over the top as a sort of permanent memorial. The symbolic freedom, combined with the memory of their image, would prove powerful solace for their relatives.

I DON'T want to be caught by a Tarantula Hawk...but seriously, my parents were both cremated. My Father did not have a choice because his remains were found in the house 4-5 days late. Mother choose to be cremated. I do not have anything against it. I have not made arrangements either way and will leave it up to whoever survives me.

At one time I thought cremation was out of the question. But now, I have decided on cremation mainly because I don't want my children to be stuck with a costly funeral bill on account of me. Now days a basic very plain funeral is ridiculously expensive. And, it will get worse as time goes on. My arrangements have already been made by me and paid for. The only thing that may change in price is the tax. I am leaving my children with a nice inheritance. I don't want them spending it on my funeral! My dad was cremated (at his request) and the Memorial service was wonderful. We rented a casket so friends and relatives could give their last farewell for closure. My arrangements are the same for when I leave this world.

I used to say buried but now I guess cremated. There is NO space in the ground to put coffins. It just takes up space and eventually nobody is around to care that the body is there. Cremate me and sprinkle me over the ocean. That would be nice.

It's already been decided-and paid for-that I will be cremated and my ashes will be scattered off the jetty in El Segundo.
Over my lifetime I buried my parents and all of my 12 siblings, not to mention aunts and uncles, etc. I stopped going to funerals because I couldnt bear to look at one more dead body all made up and not looking at all like what I remembered. I believe that when you die, your soul leaves the body and all that remains is a shell. I guess you can tell I'm adamant about this-but-to each his own.

This is a weird thing to think about...

At first, I was going to say buried, because I'm afraid of fire. But then I saw the answers that mentioned rotting with the worms-- NO THANKS!

Now that I think about it, I would rather be cremated. It would be kind of nice to be blowing with the wind. It seems to give a better sense of life after death.

If there is any doubt as to how I died (suspicious circumstances etc) then I want to be buried so that I can be exhumed at a later date for analysis etc. If I die and the reason is certain then I want to be cremated and my ashes divided in to many urns. I then want my close friends and family to take the urns on holiday with them and scatter my ashes all around the world.

I want to be buried. But I don't want to be dressed in a suit, or placed into a coffin that costs more than my car. A plain simple burlap sack will do. And no fancy headstone either. A plain white marker upon the ground, big rock maybe. They used to call this a paupers grave. Not sure if its still legal, so I'll decree it into my will, as a last dying wish, and have my family put me in the back lot under the Oak. I came in plain and simple, and with nothing. That's how I'm going out. I also don't want anyone to mourn me, no crying. Have a barbecue and party!
