New fuel pump, I tried fitting it in many ways but when it lines up with the cam lobe, is seems wobbly, the cam lobe that is, I can hear and feel it jiggle around as the lever on the pump touchs it. As such the pump does not pump when turning over.

Do I have to take my timing cover off and check it out, is there anyway to tighten up the cam lobe from the Hole where the pump goes in? Anyone has any pictures of what the inside looks like or whats going on?

I believe what you are calling a camshaft lobe is the eccentric fuel pump actuator (mechanical),it bolts on to end of camshaft ,and could just be loose or,if the hole is worn and needs replacing.. Yes the timing cover has to come off!!

It is a lobe that basically rises & falls with every turn of the cam shaft. The lever on the pump will have to be under compression during installation. If you can put the pump in place with the flange square to the block without pushing on it, something is wrong. Had to change 3 fuel pumps in a row on a 351 in '83. All 3 were badfrom the factory.

The camshaft is ONE solid piece of steel and therefor the fuel pump lube can not seem "wobbly" unless the cam bearings are worn. Which is possible, but not likely.

What you may be noticeing is the the cam sliding forward and backward a little inside the bore.
Even that seem unlikely.

Are you using the right thickness spacer between the pump and engine?

on the 351 and most older ford engines this is a bolt on excentric. If you can hear or feel it wobbling then you have a problem. you have to pull the timing cover to inspect and repair this. I hope it works for you

try using grease or vaseline to hold the rod in place while you bolt up the pump the rod may be missing the lever

Could have a broken camshaft.Take off the timing chain cover and inspect.
