Movies are totally package deals. A good one is well-written, well-acted, with good production values including shot composition/lighting, editing, music and special effects. When all those things come together, you get a good movie. Remove any one of them, and things start to fall apart pretty quickly.

Good acting is key.
I want to laugh if its a comedy. If it a horror film it better scare the crap out of me. Dramas should make you cry.

There is no major thing to make a good movie. It has to be equally great in directing, acting, money, etc.

for films, acting isn't the major part. the plot, directing and editing make up the most important parts of a movie.

w/o a good script, believable actors and a good editor for it all, a movie can be totally trashed.
