I agree. Actually I am guilty sometimes of that crime, but now I try my best not to do it. Mind you, I was in the spelling bee before, but ever since the texting era began, I think I may have forgotten some of my words. Now, they don't get me as much as they did before. It really affects huh? But I don't think I really have a serious problem with it, just trying to cope up with what's been happening yet not being affected by it.

Laziness. It's not that teens don't know how to spell, it's just that they think it is cool to spell incorrectly, which it is not. They are using slang and in-case you didn't know if people hear or see a made up word or a made up spelling or shortcut for a word it will end up being in the dictionary, thesaurus, etc.

I hear you loud and clear...and it's not just on myspace...it's here on Yahoo!Answers, which is the most annoying. There is nothing worse than trying to decipher what someone is trying to ask without getting furious! I wonder if people know they have spell check?

The use of instant messaging and the terms that teenagers use that are not correct English is why the younger generation can no longer spell.

well i do that to sometimes not usually

its just that its less time consuming and if they are in a hurry they will type as fast as they can and miss spell words by accident and make words shorter.

or its just that they are lazy, or they thinks its so "cool" to cut words short and expect people to know what they mean even if they just made it up, which means people have to ask them "hey what do you mean by" so and so

hope that helps a bit
