It could be aestetic with the carp and other fish. It could also be a crime deterant. The cost might be a bit high and my neighbors might outcast me but Im curious about your thoughts?

Your insurance will probably go through the roof, especially if you don't have some fence surrounding it so children don't drown. I'm being serious - people who have lakes, ponds, etc. on their property - especially if they live near neighbors - have higher property insurance costs. Some localities will also require you have a fence with a locked gate around a pool so I wouldnt be surprised it would be required for something like this as well. Unless the moat was very large or had flesh eating fish, I wouldnt rely on it being a crime deterrant!

I think it would be awesome.I've always thought of how great it would be to have a moat and the big iron gates. I'm really into midevil castles and sculpt them in clay. I say go for it and don't worry about your neighbors.

Hey, go for it!! Sure it will be expensive but it
will for sure keep the boogers out. Are you
gonna put in a draw bridge? Lots of water and
if you live in a warm climate you have a choice
of crocadiles, alligators, or pirianah{sp}. I do
hope you excuse the spelling. You do
understand that your normal company that you
have coming in will be limited.
