If you are growing your veggies in the earth, just use your native soil and amend it with commercial potting soil or peat moss. Most soils can benefit from the addition of organic materials.

Whenever I make a new bed, I usually buy some good potting soil and use it to amend the bed, Potting soils often contain bark, peat and better ones contain starter fertilizer. The fertilizer in the potting mix helps jump start the biologicals in the soil which will help your plants uptake nutrients and the organic content of the potting soil helps your local soil retain moisture and nutrients and will make it easier for the roots to penetrate the soil.

be sure that you provide some fertilizer for your plants. granular fertilizers tend to last the longest, but water soluble ferts provide nutrients more quickly.

Good luck!.

Honestly, miracle grow is pretty expensive. I recommend Shultz Garden Soil. I found it at Menards. It's recommended to improve native soils.

The regular kind under your feet ;) Anyhow, you don't need anything special just make sure you have good drainage. You might mix in some compost, manure, and grass clippings to beef up your soil a little. But that's all.

Miracle Grow makes a soil for GARDENING for veggies & flowers... sold at any garden place. & it has the food in it. I just used them for all my pots & tomatoes.

but if u'r putting them in ground... (oops..4got about that...) i would use a soil w/ much & good feed incorporated in it. I would ask u'r local plant store.. like a Plant Nursery.. they know more than a average "joe" store.
