I usually daydream about situations in the past when I did something really cool, but sometimes I change something to make the pleasurable impact greater. One other thing. There has to be an audience of people I admire. It could be a girl I had a crush on, or a teacher that I respected, or movie/rockstars. It could just be me telling them a funny observation that I made during the day. When I read "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", I couldn't relate because there is always an audience in my daydreams.

I like to invent in my daydreams and also compose music and write fictional stories in daydreams Some of them get on to paper. If something is bothering me I will try to resolve the situation in my daydreams which often brings me to the solution. I also do what you are talking about, embellish on a past event making it even more exciting than the reality of it and when doing so or just imagining yourself in a fantasy situation an audience is always necessary to give it more impact. sort of seeing through someone elses eyes increases the meaning of it.
Have you ever thought of your brain as a computer and how much ram and complex programming it takes to do this daydreaming stuff? It's mind boggling (no irony intended) Good question and description of daydreaming.
I think I'll go daydream for a while.

Yea, I usually daydream about a past situation, but instead of the dorky stupid thing I did in real life, it changes around so that I look less like a giant nerd. Also, when I went to a concert last month I was like daydreaming before hand about what it would be like, and how much fun it would be. In my daydream my friends and I got to meet the band, and hang out, obviously in real life that didn't happen...we wouldn't have been able to get near the band...apparently when bands make it big, they don't have time to talk to all the little fans after concerts...oh well...one day I shall meet one of my fav. bands. Daydreaming is great, it's way better than reality, and it helps me to forget about all the ickyness of my real life. :) Woot Woot for daydreaming! lol :)
