why do you need the bible to tell you this? it's an ancient story book. your child should come first, then you because you need to care for your child and spouse last. isn't it apparent that your child comes first? if you have to ask yourself this question and then refer to the bible for the answer, then your priorities aren't strait and you need some help. people, get real. you're telling this person to sacrifice her child's well being by putting god first. what will she say to the child when it asks for help or attention? "not right now, i'm talking to god". read a child development book.

In Genesis. Chapter 2. God realized that Adam needed companionship because if Adam was going to be God on earth it couldn't be all about him. But, before he brought Eve into the picture, God brought the animals to Adam to "see what he would call them and that was the name thereof" Adam was not simply naming the animal. What Adam was doing was coming into agreement with God. Animals already had names. God called things when he created them. Read chapter one. God wanted to come into agreement with Adam to see if Adam saw things the way God saw them. This is important since Adam was God on earth. After that then he brought Eve to Adam by taking a rib from him and giving it to Eve. One flesh.
Let's apply it here. We are to come into agreement with God first before we can expect to have meaningful relationship with a spouse. And then we can be fruitful and multiply. Hopefully, your children will do the same.

Matthew 6:33 Seek first the kingdom of God
Titus and Timothy speak about marriage and the spouse comes second then the child
to help in life I suggest=true love is the answer, self esteem to know within that true happiness comes first from him. John 3 repented of my sins (even one lie) and born again with Jesus in my heart as my best friend once I asked him in (Revelation 3:19&20) "I love you and ask you to repent of your sins, Behold I knock on your heart door to come in and deliver from sin and be your friend, when you ask me in."
so I prayed-"Jesus I am sorry for my sins (even one lie is a sin) come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."
praying for you, relax life will go on, and soon you will see it is better than ever, and that there is importance in a guy who will honor you in Jesus -and as Jesus promises "once you believe, I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13
prayin for you-for Jesus perfect will, David

a spouse is who we pick...but the child is a gift from GOD...so if you turn to GOD to assist you with the child then you are putting the child first...if you do all needs for the child then you are putting GOD first by obeying him to care for the gift that was given to you...so after the first two ,GOD & child, then comes spousey...oh and you left out YOURSELF, or dont' you know that you do count...you must care properly for yourself in order to be a fit, tireless, caring mom with al lthe demands each day, but doing this you are once again putting the first two first....the spouse is capable of tending them self...but naturally they shouldnt be neglected by nonsence...

First is God, then your child, then your spouse. I don't need a bible to tell me that. My child will always be before my spouse. He will always be my child. My spouse may NOT always be my spouse.

Matthew 22:36-39 states:
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
With love in Christ.

God ALWAYS comes first. W/o Him, we are nothing! He created Adam & Ev, so there comes the spouce second & third, he gave us children. He does refer in the Bible that our children are "gifts" that He gives to us. Didn't really ans. your question, but maybe that w/at least help?!
