Ok, I know it's late to add info but there are no kids and no joint property involved. We've been married a little over a year and I've already moved out.

Hi,
If you and your spouse can agree on a fair and immediate division of marital assets (cars, home, student loans or credit card debt) you can file for a dissolusion. Under $1,000 and relatively quick.
We had to decide on shared custody of our son. Signed for a zero child support agreement and I am custodial parent, so he will remain in a solid school system all his years.
The dissolusion can be prepared by a single attorney, if you are able to be in the same room together and be fairlfy respectful. It is a general form he/she will assist you in completing and then they file in your county of residence.
From the day we filed, we had to register for a "parents of divorced children" one day seminar (Franklin Co, OH) you may have to as well. They stamp your certificate, then your dissolusion can be carried out.
In front of the judge for 15 minutes, our dissolusion granted. We followed our attorney downstairs to the clerk for it t/b stamped and recorded. We each received a copy and it was official.
Final cost $885.00
Filed February 2007
Final May 2007
Best of luck to you ~

It is still a legal matter and should be handled by a lawyer. Marriage is a contract and contracts are binding - so get a good lawyer to make sure the marriage is dissolved with all the t's crossed and i's dotted. What is going to make it cheap for you is all the things you said in your question. You are not contesting anything, demanding anything, or discussing custody issues. That's pretty cheap.

Hi
If you and your ex can get along relatively well, you can share a lawyer and split the cost. If not, then spend the extra money and go with Drew Schnack or whoever's taken Donnie Heck's clients over (I think it's Todd Eiler but I'm not sure.) Talk to Brandi at Donnie's office. She's great. She'll explain everything. If you want more information, you can email me at the address I sent you in response to the email I got from you. Good luck either way.

The cheapest way is by having an uncontested divorce where you both agree to split.
You can have your divorce prepared and ready in just a few days
Here is the legal resource

In many states, you can hire a paralegal to type up the paperwork for you. In many states, you can buy a "Do It Yourself" kit at stationary stores. If you don't have children and don't have a lot of property to split, this is the way to go. I still recommend that you buy an hour of an attorney's time to go over the paperwork before you sign it, but other than that, it's quite easy under these circumstances.

If you have to go to the Internet to find the "cheapest way" to get a divorce then you are in a place that I hope I never find. To answer your question: Just show your husband your question and the answers you have received (some real doosies). If he has developed his common sense since you two were married, then he will pay for the divorce just to rid himself of the shame you have brought on by asking this question to begin with.

Illinois has a divorce process called "simplified divorce"
You can get the documents and instructions and do it all yourself.
Check with the County Clerk where you live and they can tell you where to get the forms.

Go to the courthouse and do it yourself. The papers aren't that difficult to fill out, specially if there aren't any children or property involved. Or, you can hire a paralegal to fill them out, I think the rate is 150.00 or so. You could of had the marriage annulled if it was under a year.

should be if no one contests.
cheap is the wrong way to look at this, divorce costs what it costs because it is worth it.
