Excellent question!
See, the agnostics and atheists say nobody knows who or what or when or why about the 'creation' of the universe. However, the religionists want to claim it for God, and as God's 'agents' sell the rest of us access to our own lives and a 'hereafter' that no one can verify.
This is the same as someone selling leases to individual tollbooths on the George Washington Bridge, getting paid up front, and then saying that the purchaser has to go to the bottom of the Delaware River to collect the toll payments.
Oh, and the seller doesn't have to prove ownership of the bridge, either.
