It is a legitimate site.
I have an account onthere. And an old classmate of mine, Jason Dolley had one, I'm not sure if anymore.
He got on to a tv show a while back with them, and now he's on Disney.
So It's a good start.

Yea, I'd stay away from them.
However, just because a site requires a little outlaying of money does not mean that it is not completely legit. Two examples:
1. Actorsaccess.com requires a $68 yearly subscription to "Showfax" in order to submit electronically. And there is a small fee for any uploaded photos more than the two free ones. Actorsaccess is also a division of "breakdown services" - who just happens to supply the breakdowns for all TV AND FILM. So I'd say they are legit.
2. LACasting.com: Also has a small monthly fee and fee for photo upload, but as my manager says, almost all the commercial roles in LA are coming via LACasting.com Even though most of those are only visible by agents or managers, there still are quite a few student films, plays, commericals, etc, on the site.
So just because it may cost a little, doesn't necessarily mean it's a scam. Acting is a business, it needs to be invested in. Most of us working actors did not get just picked off the street and thrust into a lead role and instantly famous.

Some site provide a place for you to host pictuers and resumes, and have real casting directors as clients.
MANY websites take your money, without providing useful services. They are in the majority. These are the ones that talk about stardom and Hollywood
Unless you are already a working actor, and your agent recommends a service, the best bet is to stay away from all of them. When you are at a levelin the industry when you need them, you'll know.

My son is on this. We didn't pay for the subscription, so basically it lets me know about auditions in our area and then I can go through other means to get more info. Check to see if your area has an auditions website.
