A friend made some terrible comments about me. Even though I told him how hurt I was, he didn't apologize. I want to forgive him, but I don't know how because he hasn't even said that he is sorry. I think he is. Maybe it is better to not expect it and just let those comments go?

Not such a good friend. Don't expect the apology, it would have come already if he was sorry for what he said. You should let it go, and you should forgive him, but just so you can move on, not so that you can remain friends. You don't have to tell him that you forgive him, you don't have to tell him you're letting it go. Just move on. Put the comments and him in your past. He's NOT your friend.

You should confront your friend about the comments that he made. You cannot forgive someone who never apologized. Confront him, or you'll probably never let it go. I always say, if you are going to end any relationship with a person (friendship/intimate), end on good terms. Good Luck!

if you don't want to forgive him, that's fine. he has not said to you that he's sorry, therefore, you have no reason to forgive him. no one can say hurtful things and think they can get away with it. if you just keep forgiving him, he's going to think it's okay and keep hurting you until it's gets to the point where you on the ground crying and you don't want it to get that bad. don't forgive him, wait for him to apologize to you. you deserve to be treated right no matter who it's from

You can forgive him in your mind so that resentment and anger does not eat at you. I wouldn't maintain a relationship (friendship) with him unless he apologizes.

Forgive them.
Tell them that you forgive them even though they did not apologize.
Be cautious of what you say and do in front of them from now on.

Maybe he's the type that can't apologize easily... if he acts like he's sorry then he probably is.
