A small company produces both bouquets and wreaths of dried flowers. The bouquets take 1 hour of labor to produce, and the wreaths take 2 hours. The labor available is limited to 80 hours per week, and the total production capacity is 60 items per week. Write a system of inequalities representing this situation, where x is the number of bouquets and y is the number of wreaths.

4 answers

x+2y less than or equal to 80
x+y less than or equal to 60

To solve, you need to graph the inequalities and then whatever the shaded region is, that is your answer, because there are multiple answers for x and y. There is no one exact answer. The boundaries would be

x is less than or equal to 40
y is less than or equal to 20

x - bouquets
y - wreaths

x + y <= 60
x(1) + y(2) <= 80

Note: If you solve these, y <= 20 and x <= 40.
